Job Description


Ensure that strategic planning as well as performance monitoring and evaluation activities are planned, managed and administered according to quality and performance standards and that all activities and deliverable are completed within prescribed deadlines.


  • Designand implement the infrastructure (processes,  policies, templates, guidelines, ) to support all SABS’s business planning and reporting requirements
  • Manageand lead all phases of the development of corporate and business plans for the SABS– concept to development to support
  • Develop/refinethe SABS reporting and planning methodology
  • Develop and implement a planning and reporting calendar that incorporates key activities with key stakeholders, including the executive committee, the dti and the SABS Board
  • Facilitate the development and sign-off of the Organisational Scorecard that is aligned to the Corporate and Business Plan
  • Facilitate the development and sign-off of Divisional Scorecards that are aligned to the Organisational Scorecard
  • Compile the organisational monthly and quarterly performance reports and dashboard for review by the executive committee, the dti and the SABS Board
  • Develop and define the high-level business reporting requirements to facilitate execution of the SABS corporate and business plans

Customer/ Stakeholder

  • Develop and implement a    stakeholder management plan to ensure that strategic objectives and all statutory and other planning and reporting commitments are met
  • Establishand maintain a SABS strategic reporting framework
  • Develop and execute divisional KPA and/ or key stakeholder plans in line with the corporate plan
  • Undertake planning and reporting reviews to ensure business continuity and knowledge transfer
  • Provide regular reporting and feedback to all relevant stakeholders


  • Monitor and report on strategic projects that have a direct impact on the performance of the organization
  • Conduct an annual performance review for the organization and facilitate the development of the annual report

Competent and empowered employees

  • Facilitate the development of capabilities to achieve optimal planning and reporting levels within the business
  • Establish a planning and reporting center      of excellence to mentor managers in the planning and reporting process at SABS
  • Actively take leadership in developing the right culture to support planning analysis and reporting
  • Ensure that the department is effectively capacitated and resourced to deliver on its objectives
  • Drive the identification, development and retention of skills within the department
  • Manage all financial and human resources within scope of control

  • A relevant Bachelor’s degree or National Diploma in Business Management, Economics, Strategic Planning or a related field
  • Minimum 8 years’ work experience in the strategic reporting and planning environment with 5 years in management, 2 of which must be in a senior management role position
  • Expert knowledge of planning lifecycles and reporting methodologies within a parastatal environment
  • Experience in monitoring and evaluation of strategic plans  is essential
